New York Fashion Week is in full swing and the nail art this season does not disappoint! In past seasons, designers took risks with manicures, but this year’s nail art is all about subtle twists on simple styles. Here are some of our favorite looks from the NYFW runways.
The classic French manicure is always in fashion and it has been featured in several shows this season. At Zang Toi, a deep purple shade is accented with a thin tip. Essie created a pastel double French mani for Sophie Theallet. The look at Creatures of the Wind is a messy silver manicure.
A major trend this season is watercolor nails. Rebecca Minkoff’s show features dreamy pastel blue and red nails. At Monique Lhuillier, a subtle pink and white ombre complements the collection beautifully. A vibrant tropical mani makes waves at Desigual.
Several brands went futuristic by creating negative space manicures. Zoya used two neutral shades for the look at Creatures of Comfort. Bold black and white nail art really stands out at Kye. For Charlotte Ronson, OPI used a limited-edition mint shade to create alternating half moon manicures.
Matching Lips and Tips
Matching lips and nails are a big hit on the spring runways. Caroline Herrera shows five different nail and lip pairs. At Zac Posen, models look chic in bright coral. Models look breezy and bohomian in nude at BCBG Max Azria.

Halloween is just a few days away and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with nail art! See our favorite festive manicures here!
Fall is here and you know what that means: new nail trends! We’re looking forward to wearing fall nail polish colors and trying out fresh nail art techniques, so we turn to the latest fashion magazines to find what’s on trend this fall.
Known for her controversial lyrics and eccentric style, Australian rapper Iggy Azalea is our August Lacqueen. Here’s why:
These days it’s not enough to just wear the hottest nail polish shades. With so many innovative nail art ideas, we constantly have to step up our game. One way to do so is with nail rings and charms! A little bit of bling goes a long way, so these are an ideal way to wear nail art without going overboard.
Chanel majorly put nail rings into style with their Fall 2013 Haute Couture show. Instead of painting the models’ nails with their luxury lacquer, they stacked delicate rings on their fingers and nails. This style is chic and unique! We see this being a huge trend this fall.
Want to rock nail rings like the Chanel girls? Get started with this guide from Catbird, who have tons of delicate rings perfect for this look!
Nail rings and charms are popular in Hollywood as well. Beyoncé wears nail rings in several of her videos, including Run the World (Girls) and Sweet Dreams.
Black Book Magazine decked out Nicole Richie in gold serpent rings for their April 2009 issue.
For the launch of her perfume Fame, Lady Gaga wore extra long nail rings covered in gold charms and jewels.

Here at Lacquerous, we are always on the lookout for new lacquers to add to our growing inventory. We figure it would be a great idea to test out some brands and let our dear readers know how they perform.
Mint Polish is a fairly new lacquer company, but it’s already creating buzz for its fast drying “one coat wonders.” Started in 2012 by Greta Huberty, Mint Polish prides itself on being vegan, 5-free and 100% American made. Their mission statement is “Good. Clean. Colors” and I think they certainly live up to it.
The first Mint Polish shade I tried was Bellini Babe. This is a soft peach glitter lacquer that sparkles beautifully in the sun. I applied two coats and it looked exactly like it does in the bottle.
Next I wore Pass the Scone, which is a rich taupe color. This polish reminds me of a latte and is opaque in just one coat.
I also layered Bellini Babe over Pass the Scone, which gave it a lovely shine!
The third Mint Polish shade I tried is Lavender Macaron. This is probably the best lavender shade I’ve tried. It’s so vibrant and I love that it applies perfectly in just one coat.
Next up is Original Mint. This shade is stunning! I found that it applies a bit lighter than it looks in the bottle but it’s still a gorgeous color.
Bleeker St. Babe is a khaki green shade that can skew from green to gray depending on the light. This shade is a great neutral and it would work well on any skin tone.
The next shade I wore is Sweet Liberty. This is my favorite shade in the collection and is one of the best nail polish colors I’ve ever worn. This red orange color is so bright and looks amazing with tan skin. When I wear it I can’t stop looking at my nails! Sweet Liberty is a perfect summer shade.
Dirty Shirley is a hot pink lacquer with a hint of iridescence. The purple pearlescent undertones make this shade really stand out. Like with Sweet Liberty, when I wore this I couldn’t stop staring at my nails!
The final shade I wore is Ribbon Dancer, Mint Polish’s first glitter polish. This shade is packed with glitter and looks great on its own.
I also layered Ribbon Dancer over Dirty Shirley, which really made it pop.
